WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 1934
Finished button holes today. Wore other dress I made–looks nice. Nettie Kamer got a spiral permanent–$2. She just has waves. It snowed a little, but melted–much colder. Rent is raised to $4,50.

Finished “South of Zero” in bed. A grand book. Got up at 11:40. Sewed. Mama got a raise–$17.50 a week

Grandma got a letter from Uncle Dick. Louis Mathes has started a cafe. We had a rehearsal at Mary’s. Lily was absent all day. Mama asked for a raise and made Miss Volterbeck mad.

Lily came around today–first time. She’s moving Saturday. I went to the library alone. Mama didn’t get her raise and was awfully disappointed. Started “Robin Hollow.”

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1934
Mama went in town. She bought me a darling blue skirt and twin sweater outfit–$4.50. I didn’t get up till noon. Read till 3:30. Mama got a finger wave while I was in the library.

Mrs. Hill wants $25 a month, so we’re going to move. I went to Lily’s after school and played parcheesi. I am traffic officer on the stairs. Have to be at school early.

Got $ from Uncle Dick and wrote to him. We got report cards. Walked to Highland Park with Mary. Had Albert Bizer for a dancing partner. I pity poor Albert!

We went in town to J.P. Collins’, but they wouldn’t buy back the piano. Sold piano and lamp to Koppehels for $10. Went down there after supper. Started “Ironheart.”

Went to Sunday School and Church. Read “Son-Daughter,” “Second Hand Wife,” “Parachute Jumper” and others in that magazine. Bought 15ยข worth candy. Snow is still deep. Strawberry shortcake for dinner.
